Classes have been postponed for a week, so I haven't had a lot of fun lately. And I saw this tarpaulin about a Cream Silk scholarship, and I decided to give it a try. But I couldn't condense it to 300 words though, as said in the instructions. Well anyway, ...;)
Why I believe in women empowerment. . ...

For centuries, women have been downsized to a state of an almost unwitting compliance and have been expected to capitulate to a society 'run by men'.
Odd though that the little woman has to birth the child and run the home--which of course aren't that easy to do. Odd that it is from her men get comfort and consolation in times of defeat. That she, if not better, can do things done by him, be it a role in intelligence or a position in the government. Because there's a lot more to her than what's seen as a vulnerability and that is power to unwaveringly continue, against whatever odds. This own country's president, despite the many controversies, has averaged to about 5.0% in GDP growth (according to NEDA), which is comparably bigger than the previous administrations'.

Though it is true that a lot of women have autonomy in their own lives these days, statistics still shows that seventy percent of those who live in absolute poverty around the globe are women. It is sad that, despite modernization, certain cultures still discriminate and violate women's rights. How unfortunate! These women, only if given the chance, could've turned out to be another Eleanor Roosevelt or a Jane Austen. If it is progress we're really after, it would be a major impedance to the attainment of that very goal to disable women and keep them from recognizing their own full potentials. Crippling women cripples the world, in return.
I have seen what a woman, at the top of her game, can do and does. My own mother amazes me. Though in the outside it might seem like my father's the over-all in-charge, no major decision in our household has ever been made without her approval.
A man might be able to head out an army in an all-out battle or possibly dominate at the top of his own empire, but it's clear that the addition of a woman betters everything.
I know that with the things that I do and what my own mother has taught me and of course my belief in the empowerment of women, I'd someday discover my own real persona and be a witness to what greatness I can do, and all women in general.
